Firebird Brewery in Rudgwick
09 December 2013 by
Firebird Brewing Company is a new brewery based in Rudgwick. It's jointly owned and managed by Bill King (ex King and Barnes and W J King) and Richard Peters (ex Courage) who are both Master Brewers.
The new brewery is based in the old Rudgwick Brickworks site which had been derelict for a few years. However, the site is now being redeveloped and transformed. The brewery and its shop look great judging by some of the photos on the brewery's Facebook page.
Firebird have started brewing a range of new and interesting beers including:
- Heritage XX Best Bitter (4.0%) which is a traditional bitter brewed in the style of the old King and Barnes Sussex Bitter; sounds good!
- Paleface American Pale Ale (5.2%) which is made with American hops.
- Bohemia Lager (4.8%) Czech Style Pilsner which is matured for eight weeks for a smooth taste.
- Old Ale (4.5%) which is a dark winter ale.
The Firebird brewery shop is open for tastings and the beers are available in bottle and draught. I'm looking forward to buying a few gift packs for Christmas!
It's great to see a new brewery open for business in the Horsham area. We have a fantastic range of small breweries nearby so let's make sure that we support them!
