Description
Friendly pub with sunny [weather permitting] conservatory, wood block floor, exposed brickwork, old Victorian stove and roughly-hewn wood beam in the middle of the bar that looks like it is holding the ceiling up. The pub is a freehouse with several different beers - local and otherwise - and is rumoured to have the widest bar in Sussex. Local JB cider [made in Maplehurst] is also sold at the pub. Be warned - it's strong stuff!
The White Horse has been the North Sussex CAMRA Pub of the Year. The local area near the White Horse has a website - Copsale Hall

How to get there
By car
Maplehurst is a small hamlet south of Mannings
Heath and Nuthurst. It is about 1 mile [1.6 km] from the A272 at West
Grinstead.
Cycling
The best mixed off/on-road route is via Pedlars Way [end of Queensway]. Turn right at the top of
Pedlars Way and cycle to Southwater village. Join the Downs Link bridleway
just near the shops - immediately after the old railway bridge - and head
south. Leave the Downs Link at the Bridge House
Inn at Copsale as the bridleway crosses the road and turn left signposted
Maplehurst [1.25 miles / 2 km from Copsale]. Turn left at Maplehurst
and then immediately right - you should see the pub on the right.
The most direct on-road route is to cycle out of Horsham on the A281 Brighton Road past the Dun Horse Inn at Mannings Heath. Turn right at Monks Gate [0.5 miles / 0.75 km after M Heath] and continue through Nuthurst past the Black Horse and on to Maplehurst - turn left in Maplehurst to the pub
Suggested cycling routes from here
There are some quiet country lanes in the triangle between Maplehurst - Southwater - Horsham. You may have already passed the Bridge House Inn at Copsale on you way to the pub but, if not, it is worth a visit.
Or continue south on the Downs Link to the Windmill at Littleworth, Partridge Green and the Fountain Inn at Ashurst - and then the south coast!

Brilliant place to stop for a pint. The beer is well kept. If you're not driving, try the local cider.... very nice and very strong! Sandwiches were good too, so I'd recommend it to anyone.

Lovely pub. Great in the summer because it has a large garden [with stuff for the kids] and a wonderful view. Perfect for relaxing with some good beer and proper pub food!
