Description
The Half Moon Inn is a picturesque gastropub/restaurant in a quiet village setting. The cottages [built 1640] that form the pub were once craftsman's workshops [including the coffin maker!] for the village.
The pub has been refurbished and modernised and still includes a large inglenook fireplace, many old wooden beams and stone floor. Fullers London Pride and Youngs real ales when I was there. Nice gardens at the front and rear.

How to get there
By car
Kirdford is a small village west of Billingshurst near to Wisborough Green.
Cycling
The direct route is to cycle to Billingshurst and then through the village [this avoids most of the bypass]. Take the A272 west towards Petworth and Wisborough Green. Turn right just before the cricket pitch [visit the Cricketers here] in Wisborough Green and then take the first left after it.
Cycle along this quiet road for 2.5 miles [4 km] and the pub is on the right, almost opposite the church. Although this is the shortest route, it is still quite a distance from Horsham - allow enough time to do this unless you are an experienced cyclist.
The indirect route...Cycle from Horsham -> Rudgwick then southwest to Loxwood. From Loxwood, head south and take the second right [not the Ifold turn] - if you miss this turn you will end up in Wisborough Green [see above] . After 2 miles [3.2 km] take the next right - signposted Kirdford - and the pub is on the right after 1.5 miles [2.5 km] as you cycle through the village.
Suggested cycling routes from here
There are several bridleways north of Kirdford. Alternatively, on the way back, there are some quiet lanes between Billingshurst - Barns Green - Southwater.
The Foresters Arms is just round the corner.

I was recently in the very pretty village of Kirdford attending a wedding at the local church. I arrived early, parked in the pub car park and went into the pub. On entering, I said I would like a nice cold drink and could I use the loo please? I was then told off by the owner who said that they were not a pub! or public convenience and the answer was an abrupt No! The owner also said they are a restaurant which was strange because a plaque outside shows it was voted prettiest pub of the year. I suppose it didn't matter that over 80 wedding guests packed out the gardens and spent their money at the pub drinking, except me.
