Description

This pub is not like any other that I know. It is a bit like someone's front room that happens to have a pub sign outside. Music is your choice from a collection of old records! Fullers and Shepherd Neame beers served from small hatch area.

UPDATE: Thanks to Douglas Holland for information about the history of the pub. See below.

As befits the name, there are many 'frogs' in the bar. Beer garden with Morris men dancing [and drinking] on summer evenings. Very quiet location.....you can be the only people here at times.

The Frog and Nightgown

History

Twenty years ago, the pub was called the Royal Oak, and it was half the size it is today [one cottage instead of two]. You could only get ten people in the bar, providing they were all close friends, and the pub only sold bottled ales The old landlord died and the pub closed for a while before the cottages were knocked together and the Frog and Nightgown was born!

How to get there

By car
The pub is about a mile from the A264, between Horsham and Crawley. Driving from Horsham to Crawley, turn left almost immediately after the Roffey roundabout.

Cycling
The short way...Take Rusper Road out of Horsham past Littlehaven station. Straight over the northern bypass [A264] [caution....busy road]. Take the first bridleway on the right [approx 0.2 miles or 0.3 km] and follow this past a farm on the left [for 0.8 miles or 1.3 km]. At the road, turn left and the pub is 0.4 miles [0.6 km] on the left.

The long way...Cycle to Rusper by your favourite route! From here, take the Faygate road. Approx 0.5 miles [0.8 km] before Faygate turn right [signposted 'Wimlands']. At the end, turn left [good view!] and follow the road down a narrow steep hill. The pub is after the bottom of the hill on the right.

Suggested routes from here

This pub is so close to Horsham that I suggest you use it as a stopping point on the way home! I might see you there....

A lovely pub with lots of space for dogs and young children to run around in.
