Description
The Selsey Arms sells Harveys Sussex Bitter, Fullers London Pride and Flowers IPA. It is an informal village pub with wooden floors, exposed brickwork and three fireplaces. One side of the pub has a slightly more restaurant feel. All food is home-cooked and the house specialities are dressed crab and lobster.

The pub is in a small village but is located on a crossroads that can be busy. The pub has two gardens at front and rear. The attractive rear garden is a bit 'hidden' but is more secluded and away from the road.
The pub also has accommodation in four en-suite rooms.

How to get there
By car
Coolham is on the A272 between Billingshurst and the A24 at Buck Barn. Drive south on the A24 from Horsham and turn right on the A272 towards Billingshurst. Coolham is about 2.5 miles [4 km] from the A24 junction.
Cycling
Cycle to Southwater from Horsham crossing the A24 at the Hop Oast roundabout
- take care if you use the Worthing Road, it is busy.
Cycle through Southwater, past the Hen
and Chicken on the left and then over the old railway bridge past
the Cock pub on the right.
Turn right into Shipley Road [before the A24 bypass] and cycle for 1.7 miles [2.7 km] until the A272. Turn right ["Billingshurst, Coolham" - busy road] and continue for 2 miles [3 km] until you reach Coolham, where the pub is on the left.
Or, a quieter but longer route is via Christ's Hospital - Two Mile Ash - Barns Green and then south to Coolham on the B2139.
Suggested cycling routes from here
Visit Shipley, a few miles east of of the pub, and see the restored windmill which used to be the home of the poet Hillaire Belloc. It was also the location for the TV series 'Jonathan Creek'
Two pubs nearby are the George and Dragon and the Countryman Inn. These pubs are north and south of the A272. The A272 can be avoided using country lanes [and a bridleway] south of Coolham.
Return home via the quiet roads between the A272 - Dragons Green - Christ's Hospital - Southwater/Horsham.

I don't know when the other reviewers visited but I dropped in recently and the food was appalling. I didn't know you could get egg, sausages and chips so badly cooked! The landlord behind bar was very unwelcoming, the loo terrible, and inside needs to be cleaned [there was a nest of flies on window - on the inside]. Will never visit again unless the chef takes cookery lessons. The only saving grace is it is very pretty on the outside.

Friendly landlord, well kept beers. Good and reasonably priced fresh food. Everything a good village pub should be, oh and several log fires, a big plus.

Being my new 'local', I am pleasantly surprised by the standard of the seafood, Harveys beer, and crisps. Long may it continue.
