The Greets Inn ... Warnham

Description
The Greets is 13th century with three linked bar areas, the original flagstone floor and inglenook fireplace. It has been a pub for 100 years. The food is excellent and it is very busy on Sunday lunchtimes. There is a large beer garden with barbecue at the rear. Beers vary but include Youngs and Fullers London Pride.
The original landlady had 12 children and sold beer at a penny a pint to make ends meet. Unfortunately prices have changed since then. Rumoured to have a ghost who sits in the fireplace....if you think you have seen it, my advice is that it might be time to go home!
Thanks to Pamela Chaplin for information about the history of the Greets.

How to get there
By car
Warnham is an attractive village a few miles west of Horsham. It is easily reached from the A24.
Cycling
This is only a short cycle! Halfway along Redford Avenue [west side
of Horsham], take the cycle path across Rookwood golf course [beware..
low-flying golf balls!] under the A24. After the tunnel under the dual
carriageway, continue left past the deer park on your right. At the end
turn right to Warnham. Friday St is half way down the
hill on the left [0.75 miles / 1.2 km], before Warnham village itself,
and the pub is on the left.
Suggested routes from here
Turn left out of the pub and first right takes you towards the A29 [up a hill]. Turn right along the main road and left after 1.2 miles / 2 km past the Punchbowl Inn at Oakwoodhill.
From Oakwoodhill, left again towards Rowhook, there is a great downhill section after the Chequers at Rowhook. Take care at the bottom, straight across the A29 again and back towards Warnham. Apart from the A29, there are some quiet lanes to ride near here.
Or for a much shorter cycle from the pub, try the Sussex Oak just down the road in Warnham village.

Went to The Greets at 1.15pm on Saturday 7th June and ordered a ham sandwich - it was presented in mouldy bread - don't think we will ever go back there again....

Went for a meal on Thursday night and the pub was busy but, I have to say, the food was poor and overpriced.

A big change for the better! New summer lunch menu at £5 per head with over ten dishes on the menu is well prepared and offers tremendous value. The Sunday roast at £9.50 is up to the best in quality and quantity for the area. Well done Tony, the owner.

Have to agree with the previous reviewer that meals are overpriced. I had a fish pie that looked like a flying saucer had landed on the plate. "With veg" meant a few peas in the pie. £14 a go was not good value. Nice pub, shame about the food.

Never had a poor meal at this inn. Tony the landlord is very accommodating and makes sure the meals are up to standard. Cosy atmosphere in most areas except for the extension. Meals becoming a little overpriced, compared to other places, with Mother's Day lunch at £27.95 per person!
