Charming, 17th century, wooden-beamed, country pub with inglenook fireplaces, stone and brick floors in a quiet village setting. Two bar areas serving beers from Hall and Woodhouse including Badger Best and Sussex. The larger bar includes a dining area. Attractive garden at the rear of the pub with boules/petanque area.
Update February 2008: The pub is under new management.
BBQs in the summer and regular theme nights at the pub. Bonfire on the village green next to the pub for Bonfire Night.
The pub was originally named after The Ancient Order of Foresters which was a friendly society in the 19th century. The pub is featured in Hidden Inns of the South East.

How to get there
By car
Kirdford is a small village near to Wisborough
Green [west of Billingshurst]. The village is about 2 miles [3 km]
from the A272.
Cycling
The direct route, cycle to Billingshurst and then through the village [this avoids most
of the bypass]. Take the A272 west towards Petworth and Wisborough Green.
Turn right just before the cricket pitch [visit the Cricketers
Arms here] in Wisborough Green and then take the first left after
the cricket ground.
Cycle along this quiet road for 2.5 miles [4 km] and turn right in Kirdford village. The pub is on the right - next to the village green. Although this is the shortest route, it is still quite a distance from Horsham - allow enough time to do this unless you are an experienced cyclist.
The indirect route, cycle from Horsham to Rudgwick, then southwest to Loxwood. From Loxwood head south and take the second right [not the Ifold turn] - if you miss this turn you will end up in Wisborough Green [see above] . After 2 miles [3.2 km] take the next right - signposted Kirdford. In Kirdford, turn right to the village green and the pub is adjacent.
Suggested cycling routes from here
The Half Moon Inn is just round the corner [it's more of a restaurant]. The Cricketers Arms and the Limeburners are other nearby pubs.
There are several bridleways north of Kirdford. Alternatively, on the way back, there are some quiet lanes between Billingshurst - Barns Green - Southwater.

Had a meal here last night with friends. In about 20 years of eating out in pubs, we have never experienced a meal like this; it was appalling. In fact, it was so bad we left just after the main course arrived. The rib-eye steak was braising steak and was tasteless. The chips were re-heated and, as for the pate, it would have been better used in a concrete mixer! Even the locals outside in the smoking area told us "you don't want to be eating in here". On top of all this, it was £81 for food we were unable to eat.

Went to the Foresters yesterday for a special family gathering. This is a very picture postcard pub with beautiful gardens and family friendly atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Food was great, very generous portions, and take away was offered as we couldn't all fit in a pudding, which were all homemade and very nice.
We were all very impressed with the service and a great time was had by all. If they can impress my Gran, it's worth going back. I have already booked to return soon.
